Erica + Colton | Stone Crest Venue | McKinney, TX
Erica + Colton’s love story is a truly unique and inspiring one. Through fate, they met in Fort Lauderdale, over 1000 miles from Erica’s home in Indiana and Colton’s in Texas. What started as a chance encounter, blossomed into a loving and beautiful journey.
When Colton + Erica asked us to film their wedding, we were beyond ecstatic. Colton and I met during our college days in the small east Texas town of Lovelady. So we go back a number of beers.. I mean years. This gave me the opportunity to really get to know them as a couple and what made their journey so special, which was an incredible honor.
The wedding was just about as perfect as it could get. It began on Friday at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church for the traditional ceremony. It was small and intimate just how they envisioned. From there we celebrated at Venue Lot 207 with dinner, drinks, a tear-jerking slideshow and Colton’s Dad’s heartfelt speech. The night rounded out with Erica’s dad teaching everyone some traditional Macedonian dances for the BIG day on Saturday.
When we pulled up to the Stone Crest Venue on Saturday morning, we were already in awe. The wedding theme colors of dusty rose, gold, black and dusk mixed with greenery amongst the rustic backdrop of the venue was every photographers and videographers dream. Gray Door Photography really knocked it out of the park capturing the essence of the decor and venue. We are seriously swooning over all of their photos.
Our day began capturing Erica with her bridesmaids and Colton with his groomsmen. Their rooms were filled with a lot of reminiscing of old times and excitement for the day. When Erica’s Dad showed up with her letter to Colton, he knew it was go-time. From there it seemed as if the day went by in a ‘New York’ minute. Next came one of my favorite moments of the wedding… Colton’s reaction to seeing his Bride for the first time walking down the aisle. You will have to watch their highlight film below to understand. It was a very touching moment. From there, Erica’s uncle asked them to recite their vows then presented them Husband and Wife!! YAY!!
Receptions are probably my favorite part of filming a wedding. Everyone has let loose, the nervousness is all gone (except for maybe those who have to give a speech) and the energy level is high. Families are all joined as one and it’s so awesome to experience all the traditions. Erica’s family is Macedonian so breaking of the bread then joining in a dance line is one of those traditions that we couldn’t get enough of. For 3 solid hours it was a non-stop dance party. I’ll let you decide for yourself if everyone had a blast after you see the photos below.. Lets just say good times were had.
We can’t thank our friends enough for not only selecting us to capture their wedding but allowing us to be truly involved in their celebration. Congratulations to you both and we wish you all the happiness!
